At its March 5 meeting, the Board of Education recognized staff members who have been nominated as District 131 representatives for the Kane County Educator of the Year Award.

These individuals were voted on by a district-wide committee in eight categories, and will now represent District 131 at the county-level competition held in May.

Pre-School Teacher: Maira Roman, Early Childhood Center

Elementary School Teacher: Alma Colton, Krug Elementary School

Middle School Teacher: Michelle Wargo, Cowherd Middle School

High School Teacher: Maya Raab, East Aurora High School

Student Support Personnel: Michelle Lapacek, Cowherd Middle School

Educational Service Personnel: Axa Marquez, Early Childhood Center

Early Career Educator: Saul Olivas, Johnson Elementary School

Administrator: Armando Rodriguez, Dieterich Elementary School
